Doodhi Ka Halwa

Cooking Time : 30 minutes

Ingredients :

Doodhi (pumpkin, grated) 250 gm
Ghee 5 Tbsp (75 gm)
Milk (preferably cow's milk or skimmed milk) 1/2 litre
Raisins 1/4 Cup (40 gm)
Cashewnuts (chopped) 1/4 Cup (40 gm)
Condensed Milk 1/2 Can (200 gm)
Mawa (crumbled) 100 gm
Pistachios (sliced) 1/2 Cup (80 gm)
Silver Varakh 1 Sheet

Method :

  • Heat the ghee in a non stick pan on medium heat.
  • Add the grated doodhi and fry till a warm brown.
  • Add the milk and cook till done and most of the milk dries up.
  • Add the raisins ,Cashewnuts and the condensed milk.
  • Keep stirring constantly, so that the mixture does not stick to the bottom.
  • Stir until semi dry.
  • Add the crumbled mawa.
  • Cook until the halwa leaves the sides of the pan and ghee separates from the halwa.
  • Drain out the ghee from the halwa before refrigerating it.
  • Serve chilled.
  • Garnish with silver varakh and pistachios.
