Dry Khatta Chana

Ingredients -

White Chana/ Kabuli Chana 1 Cup
Water For boiling
Salt 1 Tsp
Chopped Ginger 1 " Piece
Green Chilli 3 Sliced
Onion Slices 2 mediun
Tamarind Pulp of one lemon sized ball
Ghee 2 Tbsp
Whole Red Chillies 2

Roast,ground the masala and then seive

Pomegranate seeds 1/2 TSp
Black Peper corns 1 Tsp
Clove 1/4 Tsp
Coriander Seeds 2 TSp
Black Salt 1 Tsp
Black Cardamom 2
Garam Masala 1 Tsp
Cinanamon 1" Piece
Cumin Seeds 1 Tsp

Method :

  • Clean, wash and soak chanas overnight. Boil in same water with salt. give three whistles and keep on low fire for 15 minutes.
  • Heat ghee in a pan and add chopped ginger, green chillies and red chiliies. Cook for half a minute.
  • Now add onions and fry till they become brown in colour.
  • Now add tamarind puld and boil for a minute.
  • Add 1 Tbsp of roasted and ground masala. Mix well.
  • Add the boiled chanas and boil for 10-15 minutes.
  • Garnish with shredded ginger and coriander leaves.
  • Serve hot with poori or bhatura
