Cooking Time: 30 minutes

Ingredients:

Rice 1 cup
Toordal(arhar) 1/2 cup
Moog Dal 1/2 cup
Chana Dal
1/2 cup
Water 2 cups
Curd 1/2 cup
Salt to taste
Ginger-Green Chilli Paste 1 tbsp
Chilli Powder 1 tsp
Soda-Bi-Carbonate 1/2 tsp
Lemon Juice 1 tsp
Turmeric Powder 1/2 tsp
For Tempering:
Oil 1 tsp
Mustard seed 1 tsp
Sesame seeds(til) 1/2 tsp
Asafoetida a pinch
Red Chillies 2 nos

Method:

  • Wash rice and dals and soak separately overight. Drain the excess water.
  • Grind the soaked rice and dals separately in the morning.Mix curd, salt and keep aside for 6-8 hrs.(to ferment) in a warm place.
  • When it ferments, add chilli-ginger paste, turmeric powder, chilli powder and salt.
  • Add soda-bi-carbonate and lemon juice to above mixture.Put in a microwave safe dish and microwave at 80% power for 8-9 mins.
  • Take another microwave safe bowl and microwave oil at 100% power for 30 secs.Add ingredients of tempering and microwave for 2-3 mins. at 100% power.Spread this tempering over handvo.
  • Serve hot with curd or buttermilk(lassi).
