Cooking TimeĀ : 1 Hour

Ingrdients :

Arhar/tuvar dal 1 Cup
Imli 1 Lemon sized ball
Garlic 5-6 flakes chopped
Ginger 1/2 " piece
Sambhar Powder 2 Tbsp
Onions 2 Cut into slices
Rai 1/2 Tsp
Zeera 1/2 Tsp
Whole dry red chillies 2 Whole

Method :

  • clean, wash and pressure cook dal with 4 cups of water and 1 tsp of salt.
  • After the first whistle keep on slow fire for 20 minutes.
  • Wash imli and boil with 1 cup water. Let it cool.
  • Extract the pulp from it and keep aside.
  • Crush garlic and ginger roughly to a paste.
  • Heat 2 tbsp ghee and add rai, zeera, and dried red chillies broken into bits.
  • Add the onions. cook on low flame till onions turn brown.
  • Add imli and boil for 1 minute.
  • Add sambhar powder and cook for 1/2 minute.
  • Add ginger garlic paste and cook for another 1/2 minute.
  • Add the boiled dal and salt to taste. Add water if required. boil stirring occassionally for 15 minutes on low flame.
  • Garnish with coriander leaves.
